Something different

Perhaps a thread about a vintage Fender would be better posted on a Fender-centric forum. But I'm pretty sure MIM Strats and the 2 that were in Goat-n-glitter's deleted post would not qualify as vintage or historic.

I could be wrong, perhaps there are more members here than I suspect that would happily wade through non-PRS guitar threads to get to PRS content here.

Are you always this easily offended? Or did you just have a bad day?
It was not my intention to crap in anyone's wheaties, but I do have some other guitars I enjoy, however much I love my PRS. I won't mention them here again.

Now excuse me while I go club some bald eagle chicks with baby seals.

I think it's a good thread. I luv the first photo showing jimi with what was mostly a red start. To this day I'm still amazed at what that guy accomplished in so few years and wih so many distractions. And his song writing skills were also excellent, imagine how much better he would have been on a prs.

I'm surprised this needs clarification. The crux of my objection:

...I think this thread is in poor taste and abuses the free gift of a forum PRS has given us.

This is a company sponsored forum. It is a gift to the PRS community. It is also a promotional tool. So, I'm surprised that we get threads celebrating direct competitors. Maybe I shouldn't be, but I am. Put yourself in the company's shoes for a moment.

Paul is a charitable and giving person. The existence of this forum shows that his company is as well. But we're at his party.

You and I have differing opinions on what is acceptable when standing in someone else's house, enjoying their hospitality.

Let's see. In the last six months, I have purchased 2 brand new core PRSi, and no other guitars. I spent more on said instruments than on the last 6 other nice instruments I purchased in the last 5 years. I have also repeatedly stated how little use my other 22 guitars (by brands which will remain nameless) have gotten since I got my first PRS, in many threads here.

I'd like to think Paul would forgive me for posting one picture of another instrument (in reply to someone posting one first) - if that act is going to undo the benefit I have been to his company, it's too late for me to help anyway.

I'm going to stop talking about this now.

As long as the board doesn't get inundated with discussions about other brands, no harm no foul.

When will it be considered inundated? I dunno', but like porn, I'll know it when I see it... ;)

The problem is if we know when you see it! :vroam:

So out of curiosity what would you guys recommend to someone who loves the tone of strays but hates the feel. What would be the better option for the non fender guy like myself?

I myself have 7 Prs instuments and a very expensive Prs being built right now that I worked hard for. Also well said GoatnGitter.

PRS has some options: 513, Brent Mason Sig, used SE EG. The 305 had the 25.5 inch scale. Maybe an Ernie Ball Silhouette?

How can a thread about a '63 strat be considered in poor taste? Really? There hasn't been a gig where I haven't brought a PRS in about 3 years. But who doesn't love a strat?

On any forum.

Blues happens to post almost exclusively PRS content. But even if he didn't, I'm still interested in seeing it.

Off the rack, that's a tall order. You would need true single coils wired thr Fender way and PRS doesn't really do that.

But they have things that approach that tone... Try
513
Anything with narrowfieldslike a studio
SAS
Maybe the split tones of a Paul's guitar
The splits on a DGT
And as Bluesboy suggests: Bret Mason

Thanks Aristotle the thread wasn't meant to piss anyone off.I'am 61 years old and still get excited to see a guitar any guitar like a kid looking in the pawn shop window. I support PRS 100% it's all I play at my shows and I own two Prs amps 25th anniversary on the way,.

Only because of where it led and the door it opened.

I was content with Jamie's answer in post 19. But, if you guys want to keep slapping me for having an opinion about content, go ahead and rant.

Nobody is slapping you your opinion is as important as everyone else's.I didn't think it would go this far nor was my intent to piss anyone off So let's all be friends.

There are 3 PRSi that I consider close approximations to the Strat:

The DC3
The 305
The NF3

I don't put the Mason in there because I don't put a Super Strat in there either. For me it has to have 3 single coils (and a maple neck) but that's just me. So now you are going to tell me that the NF3 doesn't qualify. I would probably agree on a technicality, but I'm told they split so well that you do get the 3 single coil requirement, but that one would be open for debate.

Thanks justmund, so I guess it's down to two...

The DC3 and the 305.
