I own a PRS S2 Custom 22. Great guitar, but I’m looking to swap out the pickups.

Are short legged humbuckers necessary?

I have found short legs to be necessary in my Core Custom 22. I don't have exact measurements, but even the legs PRS provides give me very little room to raise/lower the pickup.

I contacted Seymour Duncan and got this response.

“Most of our humbucker pickups have short legs. The few that have long legs would be, Seth Lover, Antiquity Humbuckers, Slash model, and '59 model. All other humbuckers have short legs.”

Thought this may be useful to others in the future.

The Antiquity hummers fit perfectly in my SE245. Not a bunch of adjustment room, but where they are is perfect for me.

single cuts are typically thicker guitars. Long legs may work but can be extreme tight fit or unable to lower the pickup to the level you like. Short legs guarantee proper fit.
