It looks like you bought it without knowing how many modifications had been done to the guitar. I hope you didn`t overpay for it. The big question is, how do you fell about the way it sounds? if you don`t love the way it sounds, I`d send it back. I love a project as much as most players, but you could be in deep dollars, and you would probalby never get your money back if you didn`t love it. If the way it sounds floats your boat, then I`d go for it and see if he`ll give you enough money to cover fixing it to the way you want.
