My SE ZM slipped from my hand, head first on the concrete floor. Not being a Gibson, only the tip of the top headstock horn got bruised. Haven't addressed it yet, it's not a big booboo. It then bounced twice on both sides of the back of the body before I could catch it. That is where the most damage happened.
There wasn't any big chunk of wood I could glue back on, pretty much splinters. I decided to fill the booboos with clear epoxy. Since my epoxy is about 20 years old, the hardener is a deep amber, perfect to match the guitar tint.
Sanded with water sandpaper, grit 320 to shape it, then grit 2000 and polishing compound for a shine.
The lower booboo was much smaller and less visible, near the control cavity. Same process.
Here's a photo of the patient riding in the ambulance.
