NGD: PRS SE Standard Tobacco Burst

NGD: PRS SE Standard in tobacco burst. I got the guitar a couple of weeks ago but I wanted to make some changes before I posted it. I added pickup covers and changed the screws on the pickup rings to the smaller Gibson ones. I didn't like the large round head import screws. I switched out the amber knobs for gold ones and added pointers. I also added Schaller strap buttons. I didn't like the bland truss rod cover so I had a custom one made. The pots are 500K so I just changed the caps to Sprague Orange Drops.

I prefer gold knobs to amber and the smaller black Gibson style screws for the humbucker rings too.

Wish PRS made the new knobs in gold. Amber is so dark.

Pickup covers? I can go either way. With covers seems warmer. Without seems to have more treble.

Are you going to keep the SE pickups?

Right now I'm not happy with the pickups. I added covers because I don't like the look of zebras. I tried adjusting the pickup height and poles but it didn't help. I was thinking maybe changing the pickups to Seymour Duncan SH-1 59.

Welcome to the forum. As one Std (albeit SE245) owner to another, they are so much instrument for your buck.

Swapping out to SE locking tuners is a worthy mod and a PRS propriety nut too.

Must admit I’m a sucker for Amber Lampshades (knobs) they just match the Tabasco (haha spell check, meant Tobacco) burst so nicely. Your gold ones look great too.

New upgrades today. Musiclily ultra brass tremolo block and a Graphtech TUSQ XL nut.

Okay more upgrades. I added John Mann tuners and black saddles. I swapped out the pickups with a classic 57 style black bobbins. I also changed out the knobs to black top hats with pointers.

Done in the kitchen, my fav place to work on guitars! Nice upgrades btw. And yeah Lew they (PRS) could have used smaller screws for the pickup rings not bolts!
