I need a McCarty. With trem. With piezo...

P22 Trem Artist Pack will get you there, keep an eye out for one!

It will get me pretty close, but it will be thinner, right?

I’m thinking the most perfect combo would be a DGT with piezo, with pattern neck. But that ain’t gonna happen.

This is my closest one - P22 Artist Package in Charcoal Burst, Rosewood Neck, Ebony Fingerboard. Very happy with this one :)

Yes, a bit thinner body...but maybe as close as you can get. Give a P22 a try, you know, when we can do stuff like that again.

DGT piezo would be boss. But you probably need Tosca to build one after three days with jfb when he can’t see straight and picks wood that isn’t really his style so he regrets it and sends to you.

Yeah, I’m trying to be ‘not so subtle’ about how awesome a DGT with piezo would be (and we already know there’s room for a 4th knobby knob)... but it wouldn’t be a DGT anymore. But it could be called something else. Maybe a name like ‘KamiCASI’ or something? Just throwing that out there.

I love DGT tones but some of the things that make that guitar perfect for David, also make it not so awesome for me and my hands.

Nice! In your opinion, how does the rosewood neck/Ebony board compare to other wood combos?

Would you happen to have any videos or sound clips?

Plenty of room for a mini-toggle, I think.

Both my P22 stoptail and my CU24 piezo with trem are thicker than a regular custom. Not quite as thick as my 594, but I thought they were the same as a regular McCarty? Both killer and super versatile regardless!

Oh ok. I assumed that the piezo equipped customs were still the same thickness as regular customs. I have a Custom 24 and it’s really thin compared to my McCarty. Sounds like I need to find a P22/Custom 22 with piezo to try... I have never seen one in person.

P22s are really great guitars, and I do feel they have a different voice than a CU22 Look for one with 53/10s, if you can find it. I had a stoptail with 53/10s

and currently have a P22 term with 57/08s.

I sold the stoptail, because I needed the trem. I should have kept the 53/10s. Not that there is anything wrong with the 57/08s. I just liked the different flavor. Like a lot of us, I assumed I'd be able to get 53/10s whenever I needed them.

OR, just get a SC HB II with piezo! Different voice, different feel, thick as hell, and feedback is FUN!

2 outta 3 ain’t bad.

“And all I can do is keep on telling you
I want you, I need you
But-there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you
Now don't be sad...”

Yeah. That’s how I feel about my Custom 24. I like it but ... that neck makes me sad. I need the trem though. The trem on that one is a beautiful thing.

None of my PRS guitar have the stock model wood. They are all some weird WL or AP combo... right now everything has Brazilian or Indian rosewood in the combo. That’s why I think I need a mahogany neck with an ebony board to diversify my life but I’m curious as to how the rosewood ebony combo compares. I had ebony on maple neck on a Custom 24 but that was the only non rosewood spec’d PRS I’ve ever had.

As for 53/10 pickups, I’ve kinda convinced myself that those pups prefer a stoptail. Or it might just be that my ears prefer them with a stoptail. I have a set that were taken out of a P22 stoptail (which I never played in that model); I tried them in two Custom 24s and didn’t care for them. They sounded brighter and thinner in those guitars.

Looking at the specs on the new piezo models, I see they come stock with 85/15 pickups. Those aren’t my faves and I hear that only certain pickups work with the piezo (magnet magic?). That limits everything. If I find a nice P22 trem, I might snap it up and try my 53/10s in it since they came out of one. Otherwise, I will hold out for a PS build.
