I broke a string!

At a jam.
Put it in the case and took out the spare guitar. Forgot it was now a 5 stringer.
Went to a practice with a different group.
Took out the 5 string McCarty.

That's all.

Yup, I've felt your pain. Always good to keep spares in the case at all times. I've even broken a string and realized I'd left the now-5-string-set-from-the-last-break in the case. I don't know how often you break the same string, but a set of high-E's makes sense for distribution amongst the travel quiver. But you already knew that.

I always have extra strings with me. I used to always have to have a spare guitar on stage but one of the bands I play with now plays mainly in places where there is just no room for another guitar on stage. For a while I was bringing an extra guitar and stashing it somewhere in the case but I got tired of doing that, too hard to keep track of. So for now I cross my fingers. On the upside I very rarely break strings.
