I'm looking to install the Fishman Fluence Custom Series Matt Heafy pickup set today.

On the Fishman site I can see their wiring diagrams. The wiring I'm wanting to use has one difference, the selector.

I'll be placing these into my PRS SE Custom 24. This guitar has a 3-way blade switch over the 3-way toggle.

I was hoping someone could let me know what wiring changes I'd need to make to get this to work as the diagram shows, just with the 3-way blade instead of the 3-way toggle.

Am I right in thinking that it is just a simple conversion on the switch and nothing more.

Looking at the Fishman diagram and this PRS SE one featuring the switch I have to…

  • The left white wire (Fishman) would be soldered to the left two prongs on the switch.
  • The right white wire (Fishman) would be soldered to the right two prongs on the switch.
  • The yellow wire (Fishman) would be soldered to the middle two prongs on the switch.
  • Finally the black ground wire is just soldered to the side of the switch.

Does that sound right?

Your problem won't be the toggle, it will be the 1 Volume, 1 Tone. A few years ago, I bought a PRS Custom 24 with Fishman Fluence pickups...they weren't completely connected, the previous owner couldn't have gotten full function out of them. They require 2 Volumes and 2 Tones for full function. You could route both pickups to share the Volume pot, but there is no way to maintain coil tap functionality with only 1V/1T. That was why I sold the Fishmans that came with my 24. Good luck
