CE24 Tone knob comes off when using Push/Pull

Never had push pull before, what are the tips to keeping these lampshades from coming off when I split the coils?

If the post is split like a slot screwdriver, just expand the slot a little and force the knob back over the post. It will stay put after that.

Just be careful, it's really easy to break one of those tabs offwhile trying to spread them open AND let your tool strike the finish by mistake .
