Archon 50 Remove Tubes, Lower Wattage?

Good Evening All,

Sometimes I use my Archon 50 head as a practice amp. Even though I use it on the 25 watt mode, I still can't get the warmest tones without using my attenuator.

I was able to remove 2 of the power amp tubes from my H&K Switchblade to lower the power, so I am wondering if I can do the same with my Archon.

Any ideas?

It only has two power tubes, so no you can't remove a pair of power tubes, the amp won't work at all.

You could try attenuating the signal with a clean capable pedal or volume pedal in the effects loop. If you have a stereo capable 2x12 then you could also connect to a single speaker to lower volume.
