So I just picked up a gorgeous 2004 blue matteo McCarty with birds. Got it cheap because the guy put duncans in it. I have a set of mxv 102 throbacks I'm probably going to put in it. Anyone ever try throbacks in their PRS?

If you have them, give it a go. The throback's being PAF-esque should sound very good in the McCarty. 'better' will be pure preference, but Tend to really like most duncans as well.

I have PRS pickups in my PRSi and Throbaks in my Collings. Throbaks are amazing pickups, probably my favorite after market pickup manufacturer. But, I don't believe they're making better pickups than PRS' 57/08s, 59/09s or DGTs, for example. I think, if PRS sells something that meets your needs, I'd stick with PRS. Otherwise, I'm sure the Throbak pickups will sound great.

I put a set of PG-102 ThroBaks into one of my 594s. They were glorious in that guitar. Also had them in a Knaggs Doug Rappoport Kenai.
