    Vela with a trem

Yes they are Luminlay knobs! When I bought the new potentiometers, I realized the Stock PRS knobs wouldn't fit. Plus I have trouble gripping the when using push-pull functions. So I got the Luminlay's off ebay. I don't so much need the glow in the dark feature, but having numbers on a knurled...

Proof of Concept: The Vela Trem

Thanks! I'm a big fan of it. Everything works perfectly. It's had the floyd almost a year now with no issues whatsoever. Tuning stability is amazing, still sounds awesome. The Floyd actually tightened up the lows a bit and focused the mids which I like a lot. Even hitting huge open chords really...

    Vela with a trem

I still have all the stock stuff! Pickguard and wiring are tucked away somewhere on/in my bench. I might put that Type D single coil in the neck of a tele to see what happens. And I still have the stock bridge although it can't be reinstalled. As far as the Floyd goes, this one is definitely not...

Proof of Concept: The Vela Trem

They do, but I wanted to do it my way. I didn't want the VR Vela for a few simple reasons. 1.) I didn't want another gold or black guitar 2.) I didn't like the pickguard designs. I prefer something plainer 3.) I didn't want the full floyd, just the non fine tuner with no locking nut 4.) This was...

    Vela with a trem

Hey thought I'd share my take on the Vela with Trem. I installed a non-fine tuner Floyd Rose original awhile back and have been loving it. The install was too complex for me, so I farmed it out to a friend who has more experience than I. He did an amazing job for a reasonable price too. It took...

Proof of Concept: The Vela Trem

Hey everybody! Thought I'd share my pet project PRS that I've labored on for almost 2 years to get it where it is today. This is my ideal version of the PRS Vela Trem idea talked about by so many. After cutting a new pickguard, swapping pickups, and rewiring the entire guitar, it was time to...

    PRS Studio S2 D-Style pickups

If you are looking for a drop in replacement pickup, the D-type single coil is the same size as a Gibson Mini-Hum pickup. So any comparably sized mini humbucker or firebird-sized pickup could be installed with little issue

    Question on Uploading Photos

I cannot figure out how to attach photos to posts directly. I understand that I have to host them on a third party site like Imgur or Google photos. I have tried both, and then pasting share links into the image attachment bar, but the image won't show up! Can anyone explain to me what might be...

    Semi-Hollow Vela: Yea or Nay

I do love the PRS trem! I know it is an awesome bridge, but I went with the Non-Fine Tuning Floyd since I already had it and I've used one on another guitar with great success and loved it. There was some tonal change compared to the hardtail version, but I found it desirable! It tightened up...

    Semi-Hollow Vela: Yea or Nay

Thanks! I did all the electronics, the routing and install for the Floyd was completed by my tech. It was quite a process and I was met with some challenges. I laid out the entire wiring harness to my spec and built it using quality components CTS pots, Oak Grisby switch, 16 ga cloth wire, and...

    Semi-Hollow Vela: Yea or Nay

Exactly! The Floyd is single locking, so it only locks on the bridge end. Being that it doesn’t have fine tuners, I didn’t want to deal with unlocking the nut just to retune every time. It stays in tune so freaking well though

Since you asked...the Vela Trem https://photos.app.goo.gl/8UFE2GNzyx1vMpkT8 Edit: had to link to a Google album. Won't let me directly upload photos for some reason

    Nearly Finished my Guitar Room

    Very nice!

Could it be? PRS guitars prefer PRS pickups.

If they haven't been mentioned yet, the Suhr Thornbucker and Thornbucker+ are some incredible pickups. They sound great in my vela!
