At times the grain of the wood can make a guitar look like it is several pieces. I have at least one high quality acoustic with "One piece Sitka Spruce" front. The grain makes it look so much like a two piece that I had to put a mirror inside the sound hole to look for a seam that wasn't there. This may be the case with that back.
