What do you do for work?

I'm also an IT guy, but also do web design, graphic design, photography and video/dvd production for a heavy electrical (transformers/bushings/connectors) manufacturer here in St. Louis.

By day I work for the Department of Justice

I work for an event production company that handles sound, stage, lighting, and booking of events in South Florida. Though I used to enjoy my job, I actually kind of hate it due to the verbal abuse that goes on in the back end of this business. I've also been an entertainment journalist since 2005 and have owned 2 publications, one still going, the other stolen from me.

Lots of IT guys here... me too. I'm a Network Engineer for a large life sciences company. Been doing IT for well over 20 years. Uber geek.

Audio engineer (mastering specialist, but I still do occasional theatrical sound design and hang behind the board at a local performing arts facility).

I do what I'm told. When I'm told. Whether I like it or not. And then they pay me.

I guess that makes me a ho.

I currently work for a Sand and Gravel company in Eugene, Oregon but for the last 44 years I've worked in the heavy construction field. Sometimes I get to call the shots and sometimes I just get to operate excavation machines. Due to a general slow down in construction and infrastructure spending it's become a seasonal job which at 60 I don't mind not being outside working in the winter months.

I always have trouble describing what I do in a way that anyone understands, so I usually just say, "I'm in IT." This typically works unless the person I'm talking to turns out to be in IT also. Then I have to explain myself. What I actually do is oversee/coordinate/present process documentation and governance for my company's IT Service Management program. I also do process analysis and tool administration for Knowledge Management.

You and I have a VERY similar job!

Spent most of my adult life turning wrenches and reading a meter as a standby power tech on large industrial generators and transfer switches, then ran our service group in New England for 6 yrs in an office.

Now I have over gone to the dark side.......sales guy now for same company selling our engineering, design/build, and PM services.......feel funny saying it because I hate 'sales' guys..... :)

Can I wash your car, or mow your lawn??? Perhaps you need someone to bring you a cup of coffee. :adore: Not trying to get in good or anything... ;) but I am going to search frantically through all my threads dealing with Howie's "4-20" guitar and figure out how to obliterate them!:dontknow::bawling:

I work in music. I am currently employed with the development of a group of artists who feel the need to rhyme every sentence with a word that sounds like "bigger" with the same word that sounds like "bigger". I come here to expand my vocabulary and surroundings.
