What do you do for work?

I do what I'm told. When I'm told. Whether I like it or not. And then they pay me.

I guess that makes me a ho.

Or a Hitman. Hans the Hitman.

Just kidding...:D Don't bump me off.

Someone has to foster the stereotype, so I'll confess to being a lawyer. I'm a retired Prosecutor who spent the bulk of my career handling murder and death penalty cases. Spent the last 5 years of the career handling sophisticated white collar crime, political corruption and the Office's sensitive matters. Now I and my partner do consulting and training for lawyers, law enforcement and mental health professionals. But mostly I just ride my bike and try to play these damn fine PRS guitars.

Least favorite part of my job: banner ad production!
Favorite part of my job: being in a code editor improving something that sucked before. I wish I could do this all the time.

Network Infrastructure until I started my own business in May of 2011. Left my day job January of 2012 to go at it full time. Our focus is putting other businesses in the mobile space but we also make apps and are currently working on a game. It has been good fun. Has afforded me a few PRS to boot.

I'd love to see the spots, Jon, as I'm in the business as well, but I couldn't get them to load on my browser.

Sorry about that. I just tried it on Firefox, Chrome, and Safari and it worked fine. Took a second to load on Firefox. Also probably wont work on an iPad or iPhone, it's a flash site.
Try again? (btw the reel needs to be updated with work from this last year, should be added soon)

It's been alluded to in the PRS Lexicon thread but I don't think the question has been asked here...

What do you all do for work? Will be interesting to do another Doctor, lawyer and engineer count!

I work for a company that specialises in passive structural fire protection systems for High Speed Craft (think fire proof panels for big, aluminium passenger/vehicle ferries), my role is pretty broad, from R&D to Quality System Management, but I'd say it's a +1 for the engineers.

I am a licensed Psychologist in New York and New Jersey. Currently I provide forensic Psycholoical examinations for purposes of determining diagnosis and compensation for Veterans who have filed a claim for mental health compensation. The vast majority of cases are either PTSD related, or depression/anxiety secondary to a service conncected medical condition.
Previously, I brought Ultra Rapid Opiate Detoxification to the USA and rolled it out in Metropolitan Hospital in NY; Mout Sinai medical Center, Miami; University of Chicago Medical Center; Pascack Valley Hospital in NJ and Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills. That's why my email address is [email protected]. I was never so happy to leave a project after about 10 years of having prospective clients nod off in my waiting room.
Previous to that, I paid my dues with almost 20 years of f/t private practice as the owner/director of a full service private psychology center in NJ that employed numerous therapists. Left that when it became clear that managed care was arbitrarily cutting benefits and refusing to pay claims.

In about 7 years, if all goes well...I hope to celebrate my 64th birthday in style...by being "unemployed/retired". My wife and I have lots of beaches to walk on and many sunsets to watch following that!! Maybe play some guitar as well.

Doc...Was glad to read this about you..In 1986 I was in the US Army as an NBC NCO... There was a supply closet that one had to have a secret clearance to enter.. No big deal ,no FBI checks.. But I did have to take the MMPI and a battery of other tests.. Well I decided in my warped mind to have some fun. One test was to draw "Stick Figures" of my family, with me included. So I drew my Dad, Mom, and Sister all with happy faces, birds in the air, etc..But when I drew myself next to them, I drew a stick body but for the head, I used the triangle off the dollar bill with the "All Seeing Eye"... I was summarily denied the clearance.. the report said I appeared to be psychotic.. The First Sergeant called me on the carpet, castigated me and told me to go and draw the stick figures right.. I did and passed.......... well at least I could go in the closet and clean gas masks. HA!

Wow, if employment is any indicator, I think it's safe to say that the average IQ of the PRS forum members is well above the norm! I exclude myself from this, I highly doubt I could do several of the jobs listed.

I'm doing a 4 year study on the correlation between massive student debt and why dental care is so expensive. But most people just call it dental school.

VP of Americas Sales for a Telecommunications Equipment Manufacturer based in Ottawa, Canada.

I have been doing sales in the Telecommunications Equipment space for 20+ years, have been at this company for 5.

This company has been the best one yet, have built a team of 30+ great folks and have grown the business significantly, plus 3 years ago started a corporate band ("The Dealmakers" - a play on the Sales thing) that we use to promote the company in our industry.

It has been awesome, has got me the opportunity to perform at some great venues such as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (twice!), Vegas, Boston, Nashville (BB Kings!), Park West in Chicago, and Dallas.

Pretty cool to tie my favorite hobby into work! Enjoying it while it lasts...
