Vela Question

Velas are magical.

My description is that tonally they're a cross between a Tele and an SG that was raised by a Gretsch - they get into all those territories, while still being their own thing. The solid Velas have a touch more twang and bite, the semis have a bit more warmth and chime, though they're more similar than they are different. As an alt rock/grunge guy myself, I agree that they're fantastic for those genres.

Will do. Who knows when I’ll start buying guitars again. Hopefully prices come back to earth.

Ain’t nothing wrong with some custom vela pickguards. Kudos if you create spare loaded guards to swap in place

That’s the goal at least. Sometimes it’s nice to just rock out with a bridge HB and Vol and sometimes it’s nice to have variety

Velas are awesome. It's like a cross of several things like others have said (SG/tele/gretsch) and still it's own totally unique thing. Extremely versatile with the stock pickups

Plug 'em into a high gain amp and it will still chug with the best of them too
