I have a 2014 PRS SE Custom 24. It's well built, the pickups sound great and have a good interplay, the center position and coil splitting is a nice 'third gear,' but admittedly some of the hardware is a little iffy (the tone pot is somewhat worn).
I feel in some sense 'loyal' to this instrument, as it is well built and brings joy, it does what a guitar should do. I've never played Private Stock stuff, nor have I played Suhr, EBMM made in USA stuff, but bear with me:
How close do I come to quite a fine machine if I:
-Add locking tuners (~$100)
-A legit PRS nut (~$20)
-Higher grade string saddles ($80?)
-Replace tone knob/pot ($60?)
-Replace frets with PRS fretwire (~$400)
...could I have something that approaches an S2?
It's astounding what made in USA guitars are fetching these days, and I know, it's generally for good reason. Paul broke into the Korean made space back in the day, and World has done well as a producer. I wanted to ask the hive mind here what people's thoughts were. Peace.
