Tremolo Arm - CE model

Has anyone on here removed the black tip from the trem arm? I prefer the FR solid chrome tremolo arms. I was hoping to find out if it is smooth and usable if I remove it.

Its the same color as the rest of the arm underneath the tip.

I’ve been a long time lurker but created an account to respond as I did exactly what you’re asking about. I too have a CE and I removed the tip on the trem arm as I also prefer it without. I was disappointed to find that underneath the tip, there are a series of small grooves along the length of the arm. I had to order a replacement, so if I were you I’d leave it as is.

As mentioned above^^^^, the trem arm has a knurled end under the plastic tip.

I've changed the tips on my PRSi. I have the bar parallel to the strings, and use the end of my palm to move it sometimes. The center seam and the open end on the bar irritated my skin. I got wood tips from an ebay seller and superglued them after scoring the end of the bar. Fits my hand perfectly, works perfectly, and looks good!
