So, to my ear, I still say they sound like a slightly hotter PAF. Still in the ballpark, but with that downshift in frequencies and uptick in drive that a pickup somewhere between stock and JB hot-rodded gets. I like the sound.

That's wild we use the same strings too. Sometimes I do wish these were a little brighter but the neck clean can really do some good stuff towards jazz territory.

I’ve thought about replacing the Archtops, and maybe these would fall into the same territory, but so far they’re so nice sounding in their own backyard that I haven’t been motivated. I do like the sounds they make, even split, so I’ll likely leave them in. The strings probably smooth them even a bit more, so maybe I’ll string it with some Slinkys next time, just to test that theory.
