So I record most of my practice sets as a way to monitor my progress as well as have the history. Storage is so inexpensive these days, it costs me less than $100/year. I will update this page when I add new stuff that I have mixed down from those studio sessions, there is currently 40 songs up on this page. Below is the current list if anyone is interested in my renditions of other folks songs ;~)) All feedback appreciated! Keep in mind, there are no overdubs, no corrections, etc. These are recordings of me playing live in my studio (hence the title). I also have not tested these on multiple speaker systems, mastered them, etc. I pretty much adjust balance of channels and EQ, that is about it.

"Starfish & Coffee" By Prince

"Cat's In The Cradle" by Harry Chapin

"Raise A Little Hell" by Trooper

"Rebels" by Tom Petty

"Daughter Of The Preacher Man by" Dusty Springfield
(slightly modified from "Son Of The Preacher Man")

"When I'm President" by Ian Hunter

"Spill The Wine" by Eric Burdon & War

"Country Roads Are My Home" by John Denver
(modified from Country Roads Take Me Home - mods written from motorcycle riders perspective)

"Frozen Man" by James Taylor

"It's All Over Now Baby Blue" by Bob Dylan

"Highway 61 Revisited" by Bob Dylan

"Desolation Row" by Bob Dylan

A couple new ones here and one I posted a few months back in it's own thread! Keep in mind, these are in no way official releases or close to the original nor perfection, just me having fun with cover songs at home!! Hope you find something you like ;~))

So here is one that I have been having a TON of fun playing/singing! And I finally got a take that I think is good enough for sharing (still a couple of mistakes though) ;~)) This is a song from M (aka Robin Scott) circa 1979 called "Pop Muzik"!! Hope you get a kick out of it!!!

So today, I post some Pink Floyd covers I have been doing! But don't expect the hits here (nor great performances)!! All three of these are pre DSOTM, and that is where I generally live when I enter my PF snow globe, =< DSOTM ;~)) Way fun for me to be able to play these songs (even though they are simple) after knowing them for so many years!!!

"Grantchester Meadows" by Pink Floyd
(Ummagumma - 1969)

"Fearless" by Pink Floyd
(Meddle - 1971)

"Free Four" by Pink Floyd
(Obscured By Clouds - 1972)

EDIT: Wanted to put a blurb here about "Fearless". This is my #1 favorite Pink Floyd song, and believe me, I know the catalog including "Tree Full Of Secrets" if you know what that is ;~)) Anyway, "Fearless" has been my fav song for decades because of the message of the song (the title is the message IMO, maybe add a "be . . ." in front of it) ;~)) Musically it is pretty simple, but the message is over the top for me. It is similar to the message from Prince in "Pop Daddy" where he says "Whenever you say that you can't, that's when you need to be tryin'"!! Anyway, for many years, I would tell people "If I ever do get my own show and get on the stage to play, this will be my first song". I have since taken the stage, and not done this song, but it has never really been "my show" unless you count the few private parties I have played (and this song was not for those events). Never the less, it is still my fav PF song and to finally be able to play it is GRAND for me and I present it to you on this www network stage! I avoided learning this song for years because of the odd tuning the original was done in (I know, not THAT odd, but I have never once played in any kind of altered tuning and am really not interested in it if there is a workaround - still trying to get proficient with standard tuning). When i stumbled onto a "standard tuning" tab/chord chart for it, I was all over it. I played it (horribly for the first time about 2 months ago) but it sounded like the parts fit well enough. It has taken me a while to get that Intro/Bridge/Outro part under my fingers, but it is now to a point that I am comfortable sharing it! Still needs a lot of work, but I think it is acceptable for my spitshow, so there it is! My favorite PF song finally voiced and played by me and it feels GREAT! Thanks for reading my blather and listening to my amateur ramblings!

New ones today are Paul Simon's "Graceland" and The Georgia Satellites "Keep Your Hands To Yourself" ;~)) Coincidentally, both were released in 1986, this was not planned in any way and did not realize it until I was compiling the details below! All feedback appreciated, though I am fully aware these are all miles from perfect, but constructive criticism always welcome!!

"Graceland" by Paul Simon
(Graceland - 1986)

How about some 70's Rock! Specifically, a little Led Zepellin and David Bowie!! Been lovin' doin' these two numbers and although not hitmaker ready, I think they are pretty good versions (with assorted warts and all) ;~))

"Rock And Roll" by Led Zepellin
(Led Zepellin IV - 1971)

"Moonage Daydream" by David Bowie
(The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars - 1972)

Two new ones, both from 1970, added to the "Studio Live" page! And again, without realizing it, two songs from the same year ;~() Also, a bunch of ones that were on that page already were replaced with performances from Friday Sep 14, 2024 (I gotta say it was a good day)!! Havin' more fun than a G string at a NAMM event ;~))

"Mississippi Queen" by Mountain
(Climbing! - 1970)

"Lucky Man" by ELP
(Emerson, Lake & Palmer - 1970)

I’d just like to commend your AI engine (is that what they call them?) on the Mississippi Queen, if you know what I’m saying. Holy smokes!

I checked out a bunch of them. Can’t get a couple (Lucky Man) to play. Getting an error on several.

She had some serious competition! She is quite the number though, I agree!! The choice for her though was largely the attitude in both her attire, pose and facial expressions/stare! I swear to all that is mighty, she was not chosen via Director's Couch casting methods!! Thanks for listening, newer stuff a lot better than the older stuff (most have a date recorded on the cover)! I am going to replace a bunch of the old ones soon with fresh versions. I can not believe the amount of effects I was using on my vocals in '23! Sounds downright wretched to me today (I have been reviewing them the past couple of weeks for the first time in a long time) ;~(( Anyway, this is just me enjoying songs I have known for decades and never played (or anything else) ;~))

Here is "Harvest Moon" by Neil Young! A friend mentioned a couple of days ago that it was harvest moon the other day and I thought to self "Why have I never played Harvest Moon?"! Did a quick run through the verse chords and the chorus chords and hit record for a first take ;~)) This is my second take a couple days later. Still needs work but I think it is shareable! Cool AI video as well IMO ;~))

Here is "Queen B!tch" by David Bowie! I have loved this song (and the album "Hunky Dory") for so many years, it is such a blast to be able to play this ;~)) I will eventually put a better audio take (still learning this song and I know I can do better) to the video, but the video was fun to build as well! AI images from Midjourney, so if you have your panties in a bundle over AI, either don't click or close your eyes/turn your head from screen while it plays. The audio has zero AI ;~)) It also has no punch ins, no overdubs, no instruments added, no fancy studio effects or corrections, just the capture of a live performance in my studio on November 1, 2024! Hope you dig it and if you have never heard this song before, be sure to check out the original from Mr. Bowie!!!
