SE vs Core - String Gauge

Can anyone explain why the SE Custom 24 comes with 9-42 but the Custom 24 comes with 10-46?

Economics, most likely. It’s what they can get that appeases the target market where the guitars are produced.

I started on a Goya acoustic from the 60's that had...12 to electric cable gauge strings.

"why is so hard to play guitar? Those other guys make it look easy!"

I'd guess or always assumed ease of play more than anything. SE originated as student edition.

In addition to what’s been mentioned above, I find my SE’s need more neck relief adjustment than my US made ones. My guess is the wood sourcing is different, and the wood isn’t as dry. It would be worse with 10’s.

Almost feels like there is a stigma of playing a set of 9’s since all the “student” guitars come equipped with them. A lot of brands do this. I never really understood that.

I've gone down to 9s. My fingers don't want to work so hard these days. After years of using 10 and 11 to 52 its very relaxing.

I recently moved down in gauge as well. After many years and 10s I went to 9.5 on my Core guitars and Les Pauls. 9s on my fenders
