Pre-1995 PRS CE24 Values

Having had both, I prefer the alder because it's a bit brighter / snappier - which I think works really well with the maple neck. Mahogany is a little thicker - not bad, just different.

My all-alder CE ("the Alderman") is the "woodiest" sounding CE I have though, very cool and different than the maple-capped ones. Never played an all-hog one.

I had a hog + maple cap CE24 and it was definitely brighter than my CU24. At times I preferred the CE over the CU. I guess the maple neck helped with the brightness? I think I might prefer the mahogany body CE over the alder body since I thought it was bright enough but like you said it's not bad just different.

On CL in Richmond Va there was a 1989 red CE24 posted for 1245. That was 10 days ago so I don't know if it's sold or not but seems like a good deal.
