So yesterday I scored a really nice used SC245 PF09. Excellent condition except for a fair amount of fret wear but I think I will be sending it in to the PTC for some big ole DGT frets so no worries there. I dig the satin finsh and the top is not highly figured and looks to me like an old LP top. Really sweet playing and sounding guitar.

My question is about the pickups, they are chromed nickel with gold pole pieces and are immaculately clean, so much so for an older guitar that I pulled one to see if it really was a set of 57/08's and it had a sticker that said '1957/2008' on it and has no etching on the covers. All the other PF09 pics I have seen had the etched 57/08 on them, could this just be an early version with the original 1957/2008's in it? They sound amazing and I am psyched to have them but am just curious about how they ended up in there. Anyone know the history or timeline of when they were used?

Also the neck feels like the regular carve and not a wide fat, will the Modcat tell me the neck carve? I did not get a hang tag with it.

And yes pics will follow when I can :)

As I recall they didn't initially etch them. I'm pretty sure the SC245 I have at home has up etched ones - everything I saw after that was etched.

Fantastic guitars. It will be great with DGT frets.

Congrats, sounds like a sweet axe! The MODCAT should reveal pretty much everything, including whether it came with the early 57/08s or not.

Oh yeah...the MODCAT will tell you if it's a WF. But not all WFs are created equally. My SCT is supposedly a WF, but it's definitely a little smaller than my others.
