How can I find out what kind of finish my guitar has?

I recently bought a used 2018 SC McCarty 594. I’m only just now realizing that some of these have a nitro finish. I don’t see anything in the paperwork that came with it. Is there some way I can tell? I just don’t want to ruin the finish by doing something stupid.

The Nitro finish didn’t start on the Core line of guitars until late 2019, Novemberish. Yours will be the poly finish.
