In 1992 the ban on Brazilian Rosewood began; the guitar community was aware it was pending, so PRS made the transition to IRW 1990-91.So let me ask: did PRS use Brazilian for fingerboards on production instruments at one time, and if so when did they stop?
Guess I'm wondering about my '95 Custom 22.
For whatever reason, it's my best sounding electric guitar, both unplugged and plugged in.
It's just more lively.
At some point later PRS acquired some BRW boards from Martin, and there have been finds here and there of wood imported before the ban, or even recycled, that have led PRS to offer them on limited runs from time to time.
I also have a BRW board on my '65 SG Special. The stuff lasts a really long time. Heck, I've lasted a really long time, but BRW smells better than I do.
