I'm very interested in your thoughts on what it brings to the table vs. mahogany. I keep flirting with getting a maple neck and am close to being ready to take the plunge, but need to be pushed over the edge .
I love maple necks ALL my guitars are maple necks 2 Tele's and 2 PRS my other is a 97 SAS. I have GHS 10.5-50 David gilmour set on it and it gives a great feel as am used to 25.5 scale tension on 10-46 in my Tele. The shorter length gives a more middle/warm sound and the maple neck with slightly thicker strings balanced that. The 58/15 pickups work wonderfully there, clear articulate and zingy as well as the maple neck did its job.

Sounds really interesting, I would probably shoot for something different from your 245 entirely. I like solid bodies, and double cutaways for he most part, I may even go for 24 frets and perhaps a swamp ash back
