Teles are clumsy, archaic, obsolete, unrefined, blunt instruments which for some reason compel certain players to needlessly suffer in playing them. It's a well known syndrome in that regard, and has been linked mainly to players with deep-seeded masochistic tendencies. Teles don't even sound good with a very limited tonal range, but many of the same players try their hardest to convince themselves and others that they find the sound quite appealing, often using disingenuous euphemisms such as 'distinct' or 'timeless' to describe their otherwise harsh, strident tone.
