Help on HCI S color code

I've looked everywhere for the color code of SE Pauls Guitar pickup color codes. I'm not referring to the wiring diagram, but to the coil color code. I'm trying to restore my PRS SE to the original wiring using the original HCI S pickups, which have had the external wires removed. The only...

PRS SE Paul's Guitar - why the output resistor?

Thanks! BTW: Excuse my ignorance, but what is the MEV?

PRS SE Paul's Guitar - why the output resistor?

OKAY...... Here's what I found: 1. There may be a difference in the volume taper, if so, it's subtle. 2. I noticed a definite reduction in harshness when splitting the pickups with the resistor in the circuit. It's probably a cheaper way of making a 300k pot than actually using one, reducing...

PRS SE Paul's Guitar - why the output resistor?

Well, is my face red  I went looking for the resistor to reinstall it, and it was still on the original pot (I replaced it with a Mojotone low friction pot). And behold - it was soldered to the top lug, not the middle - my bad... So it's either a cheap way of simulating a 300k pot, or...

PRS SE Paul's Guitar - why the output resistor?

If I recall correctly, the resistor was connected from the volume pot center lug, which is the guitar output, to ground. It may be there as part of the treble bleed circuit, though. I'll have to reinstall it and see if the volume works nicer. There are three commonly used treble bleed versions...

PRS SE Paul's Guitar - why the output resistor?

I'm thinking it would alter the final output impedance of the guitar, or keep whatever amp or pedal you're plugging into from having such a large effect on the tone. It might be a good idea...but I'm wondering why no one else (including PRS to my knowledge) has done it before? I changed out...

PRS SE Paul's Guitar - why the output resistor?

I noticed my SE Paul's Guitar has an 820k resistor across the output. I've not seen this on any guitars over the last 50 years, including my other three PRS's. Any idea what the function is? I'm assuming it either maintains the brightness of the pickups, or perhaps tones them down, since this...

A few questions regarding SE Paul's guitar...

Just bought one! 1. In the store, it appeared their SE Custom 22 had a much thicker body than Paul's guitar - is that right? (It was not a signature model, definitely a regular sunburst Custom 22) 2. All the web pages say the SE Paul's guitar has a rosewood fingerboard, but mine looks very...

    Just curious...

I was in my local GC about 2 days ago, and while perusing the walls, killing time, it dawned on me that I saw ZERO PRS guitars - no US, no imports, no used - nothing. Did GC lose their PRS contract, or did I miss a screaming sale the weekend before? ;)

Hi! Need help with info on SE Custom 22 Hollowbody please

Thanks again! BTW: I think I saw a YouTube video where someone mentioned that it had a "canoe" route...sounded like it was hollow everywhere except down the middle (kind of like some 335's), as opposed to the Tele route, which I believe is on the bass side only. Any idea?

Hi! Need help with info on SE Custom 22 Hollowbody please

I recently acquired what I believe is an SE Custom22 Hollow Body, but it seems to be out of production (at least this version), so info is scarce. I will post a photo when I can, but it's the version with the cat's eye sound hole, vs the f-hole type available now. Can anyone tell me: 1. What...
