I was in my local GC about 2 days ago, and while perusing the walls, killing time, it dawned on me that I saw ZERO PRS guitars - no US, no imports, no used - nothing. Did GC lose their PRS contract, or did I miss a screaming sale the weekend before? ;)

PRS is another company to have...issues...with GC. Seen a Mesa amp there lately? A year or two ago GC decided to carry PRS in certain stores only(I believe those with Platinum rooms). My local GC here in CT carries Core and S2, as well as an occasional PS. I don't usually see many SEs in stock. The total number of PRSi on the wall is about half to two-thirds what it was before the change.

My local GC has only SE's. Only the select stores will carry cores. Sad but true.

Living in the Chicago area there are multiple GCs. The one closest to me (Naperville/Aurora) hadn't had any PRS for about a year. I stopped in there a couple of weeks ago and they had 6 SEs hanging on the wall. I remember the days when they had some primo cores.

I scored my P22 during GC's "Great PRS Selloff." A once in a decade deal for sure, but sad to see the resulting lack of PRSi in most stress.

That's when we acquired our two '10 tops' for below used prices... along with my beloved Mesa TA30 for even less than that. And a few other exceptional deals we couldn't pass up...

Regardless, I do believe they quit selling Mesa all together, and they only carry PRS at locations that show movement of inventory. Our local GC has a handfull of core models along with a good selection of SE's and only a couple of S2's...

When my wife was shopping for my core custom 24 she went to GC, who wanted 2k more for a non 10 top core than the other dealer in town. There was nothing special about it and I was blown away, the manager even got defensive when I pointed out the obvious pricing error. Needless to say I don't GC for anything but their string club these days.

I asked one of my local guitar centers a few months back the same thing... they still had a big PRS sign above the guitar racks, but not a single PRS in sight.

They said smaller locations don't carry them, but Guitar Center as a whole does so they could order a PRS if a customer wanted one. Defeats the purpose of going to the store to try it out though... if I'm buying something sight unseen I'd rather go through Sweetwater or Reverb.

Think you're right about Mesa. They don't even show them on the website at all unless it's used. GCs in Charlotte are about the same. A handful of SEs and a couple S2s. I do see some decent core models float in used, even a Private Stock once.

All sad but true, getting very hard to put your fingers on a core model these days (before you buy), much less a PRS amp.

from what i heard, mesa wanted GC to carry their pedal line when they came out, and GC wouldn't, so mesa bsacically told them GFY, we'll quit dealing with you.

That's alright. Mesa is still one of those magic brands in the rock community. I'm sure it's hurting GC more than Mesa.
