Bass/Neck Pickup to pair with a Treble \m/ Metal Pickup

Maybe it's just consequent to go with both in bridge and neck since the neck seems to sound nicely clean aswell. Are your Metal-Pickups covered or uncovered? I sometimes like the mix of uncovered in the bridge and covered in the neck. Do you hear a significant volume drop when switching between...

Bass/Neck Pickup to pair with a Treble \m/ Metal Pickup

Hi, on my further search for the perfect components for a private stock I am a bit unsure about the topic pickups. I am quite confident that it should be an uncovered metal pickup on the bridge but having heard close to nothing about the neck metal pickup and being a fan of the 58/15s or 57/08s...

Private Stock Wood Options Neck and Back

Interesting point with the maple neck. I had a wood library with one and it was a great feeling and sound. It is also a wood to consider which does not make it easier...In the end you just have to decide for one thing and I think I'll be satisfied with the outcome either way :) Right now I am...

Private Stock Wood Options Neck and Back

Thanks. Maybe you could regain some of that low end with a hog neck, while still having the resonant miss with the black limba body. But that's pretty theoretical. Thats a nice comparison, thanks for that. The whole black limba neck and body does look great, more fitting than the other one i think.

Private Stock Wood Options Neck and Back

That leads me to think about getting the best of both worlds: black limba body and mahogany neck. Sounds like a nice combination tone wise and aesthetically

Private Stock Wood Options Neck and Back

Thanks for the input and photos. Asking for a satin finish without grain filler seems like a good idea. Can anyone say a word to the tone effects of black limba in comparison to mahogany as body wood?

Private Stock Wood Options Neck and Back

Hi, I am planing the perfect guitar for myself and the best way to achieve everything I imagine it to be, the private stock seems to be the way to go. Due to the costs it won't be in near future but since planing the perfect components is a big part of the fun I guess you can not start early...

    2004 Hollowbody 2 with "57/08 WW"

Hi, I came across this Hollowbody 2 Artist Package from 2004 in a very good condition which has been upgraded with some nice stuff for the looks but also with so called 57/08 "Wildwood Prototype" Humbuckers instead of the original Archtops. The dealer says that these are early 57/08s. Has...

PRS Paul's guitar 408 vs TCI humbucking mode

Thank you for your detailed answer! Do you have any experience with a 509? This would be the other choice if not a Paul's guitar since I am looking for something different than my Custom 24 that can handle Single Coil splits well without losing that Humbucker drive and just adds other possibilities.

PRS Paul's guitar 408 vs TCI humbucking mode

Hi, since I came across a PRS Paul's guitar 2018 Experience Limited in my country a few weeks ago and was stunned by the looks and sounds of it (soundwise only via Youtube, cause I found it on the internet), I am seriously considering adding one to the collection. Though I am not sure if the...

PRS Custom 24 Semi Hollow vs PRS McCarty 594

Hello, this thread obviously presumes that you own both guitars or at least know each of them quite well. Thats not so easy because the CU24 Semi Hollow is no basic core model, but I will try my luck. So my question is which one you would prefer in terms of overall sound, versatility or in...
