    So I bought a McCarty...

For anyone wondering, I thought the McCarty would have the same body thickness as the SC245 just with a double cut, which is why I initially wasn’t interested (as I prefer the CU22 slimness), but in reality, the McCarty body thickness is between the CU22 and SC245 which was a total bonus for me...

    So I bought a McCarty...

Yes, the guitar is indeed stock. The regular McCarty changed in 2020 to the more vintage spec. I prefer the older spec for the locking tuners (which was circa 2015 to 2019 - PRS have 2 YouTube videos for the McCarty that shows the differences), so it was a no-brainer considering its excellent...

    So I bought a McCarty...

Hi All, I wrote a post fairly recently about wanting a modern McCarty. Then I saw a 2nd hand 2019 McCarty (picture above) pop up for sale here in the UK and thought why not since private stock funds were still a ways off. This is my 3rd core guitar (For context I have a CU22 stoptail and SC245...

I wish there was a modern McCarty

I knew someone would have private stocked the 2-piece bridge and the McCarty control layout, and now I found a photo of one in case anyone else is interested to see how it looks. Image from this Reverb listing

I wish there was a modern McCarty

Indeed. I already have a core Custom 22 with stoptail from the 2013 revamp. And I have a core SC245 from 2014 with the 2-piece bridge. I think my dream guitar is a blend of both with the 24-08 switching/control layout. I was only asking about my photoshop idea as it’s a lot of money to get it...

I wish there was a modern McCarty

It’s not about pickups, I can swap pickups myself. It’s about feel, hence why I am looking at private stock. I love that the PRS niche was the halfway house between Gibson and Fender, I just want more halfway, not more towards Gibson or Fender. My latest question was about the practicality of...

I wish there was a modern McCarty

I know, and it’s disappointing that most people just want PRS to make them a Les Paul or a Strat, rather than truly loving what made PRS unique in the first place. It is what it is I guess. Thankfully private stock can still get me what I want, modern iterations on heritage.

I wish there was a modern McCarty

So I'm seriously considering a private stock, but still trying to decide on specific specs (who knew speccing your dream guitar is not a 5 min job?). Putting the stoptail on a 24-08 would essentially be a slim Paul's guitar, but I think the 24-08 has to be the base model for this for the thin...

Best Gig Bag for PRS DGT SE ?? - Suggestions please.

No love for the PRS Premium gig bag? I don’t gig, but I keep my cores in them as cases are a pain. But they seem way sturdier than the SE or CE gig bags, like the sides don’t squish much on the Premium like the 2 cheaper bags do.

I wish there was a modern McCarty

I stumbled across this video from Shawn Tubbs about his 2012 custom spec McCarty. At 4:31 he says PRS didn't like the idea of the vintage style klusons.

I wish there was a modern McCarty

Oh cool, I didn’t know dealers could could maybe get me closer to what I want without going private stock. I will investigate that. Thanks, dude.

I wish there was a modern McCarty

I actually saw a McCarty double cut I REALLY liked the other day. And while I can rationalise that it's not the fat-back, it's the overall weight that is of concern, and I don't know I won't like the 58/15 LT pickups until I hear them (and I can change later if really needed). But it genuinely...

I wish there was a modern McCarty

Thanks for the pointer, I found him: _the.captain_ I actually have to take my Custom 22 in for a neck finish repair. Tried just before the pandemic started but said I’d hold off until the apocalypse was over just to be safe. I didn’t realise that maybe the UK would do mods too? Sure would be...

I wish there was a modern McCarty

Only trouble with a Tremonti is that it’s a single cut and while I have both, I prefer the double cut. It’s the double cut McCarty I want to modernise. I actually have a Custom 22 with stoptail. I prefer the 3 way toggle to the 5 way blade and now I’m gassing for the 24-08 switching system...

Locking Tuners for PRS McCarty 594 SE

You in the UK? The UK accessory store never seems to have regular stock of anything. I often wonder if this is a supply chain demand thing, but it was like that before the pandemic so who knows. I really wish they’d add an “email me when back in stock” function to the store.
