John Mayer Signature Amp - The J-MOD100

So much hate on this stuff! A few points kept jumping out at me: 1.You're on a PRS forum. Whining about anything being expensive is kind of ridiculous. 2. "$6K for a 100 watt single channel blues amp" Um, no. This is the amp that was built to cover 40 years worth of Dead music. Just...

    Quality PRS Tech in DFW?

If you haven't already gotten the issue sorted, go to the guitar sanctuary. Their repair guy is top notch, and they have probably had more PRSi pass through their hands than anyone else in DFW.

I want a phone case (or iPad) covered in the tweed amp covering.

MISS SEPTEMBER--MC CARTY SC24 TREM, WRAPPED IN GOLD

Just saw one of these today. The Guitar Sanctuary in McKinney, TX has one and it. is. beautiful. As cool as the gold leaf looks in the pictures, it is simply breathtaking in person. The "checkerboard" effect from the individual sheets wasn't as noticeable as the pictures made it look, either.

    Lifetime Keeper

I've lost count, but there are a few that spring to mind (keep in mind, these are all lefty so in several cases they were literally the only version of that guitar made by the company. Literally 1 of 1): a Santa Cruz 000 12 fret 1929. All mahogany with a beautiful sunburst. That one stung...

MISS SEPTEMBER--MC CARTY SC24 TREM, WRAPPED IN GOLD

Anybody heard a price yet? Sometimes I'm secretly glad they don't make some things in lefty. I'm broke enough as it is!

    Show your pedal boards here!

Yeah, I'm digging it. The guitar sanctuary is my local shop (how dangerous is that?). Brian Meader turned me on to that one. I basically walked in and told him what I was looking for. I was thinking angry Charlie, which is what the AT is based on. I played it, compared it to a few other pedals...

    Modified Monday

Here's mine, a 1999 lefty Custom 22 that was sent in to the PTC by the previous owner for a V12 refinish and 408 pickups/switching.

    Show your pedal boards here!

Here's my little board. It changes fairly often, but the flavors are always about the same: a couple different drives, delay, and tremolo, with a volume pedal and tuner. This version might stick around for a while, though. I keep going back to the Timeline because it's just so good. And the...

    NGD-Custom 22/408 conversion

Well, I got to use the 22/408 in a gig setting this morning. It was AWESOME. I haven't been able to put this thing down since I got it. I really love playing this guitar. I know some of that is that new guitar honeymoon period, but I don't care. Anyways, it worked exactly like I hoped when...

    New Amp Day

Well, I used the Dallas and my 22/408 at church for the first time this morning. I have a weekly worship gig at a church in the DFW area. Both worked great! My worship director is one of my best friends and we're always talking gear. I didn't tell him about the amp. He knew I had the new...

    New Amp Day

Well, I spent a lot of quality time with the Dallas today. Towards the end of my practice session last night it started squealing. After a little troubleshooting one of the power tubes seemed to be the problem. Called the store I bought it from and they hooked me up with a matched pair of...

Am I just not a compressor guy?

Like it's been said before, different types of compressors can sound drastically different. The MXR and Ross type compressors tend to color the sound more, they can be very noticeable. If that's what you're going for it's great. Trey Anastasio, for example, uses a Ross compressor to get "his...
