My newish (a little over one month old) Bernie Marsden has a "scratchy" volume pot (bridge pick-up) It scratches and then cuts out for a few degrees of travel about one third down from maximum. Is there a quick0and-easy fix for this, as in getting some contact cleaner and spraying inside the pot or is a pot replacement (that I'd probably have to do myself) the only way to go?

If it was used, I'd say try Deoxit.

Since it's new, take it back to the shop and make them address it.

Way too much trouble to take it back to the shop where I bought it (as in 450 miles and another country away) so I'd like to take care of it myself if possible.
If it looks too daunting to attempt I can take it to a local luthier.
I've got a new Schroeder stoptail bridge that needs to be installed anyway.

So you're saying that Deoxit is like vaping...

Uhh... dunno. I will say that Deoxit is great to get you through a jam or in a pinch but, $14 for a potentiometer is pretty inexpensive. And it’s like, three wires.
