Early SAS...or have I been had?

So, I found what was described as a 1997 SAS and it appears to have the original hangtag. I bought it from an authorized PRS dealer (insert guitar chain store here that sells new and used PRS).

But it does have the CE serial number and I have read on here and other places that early SAS had this designation because they were really just CE models with a swamp ash body...

So, do I have a CE or do I have one of the early SAS? Does it matter? I love the guitar, looks and sounds great, I just feel like I might have been taken for a ride or something...

It is what you think it is. Early SAS. Enjoy it! :)

always wanted one of those! And HSH with coil taps.... and McCartys!!! YUMMY!

Congrats! Looks really nice.
I also believe the stoptail option was not that common on these.
Most were trem models.

Love these, so Many sounds and feel ! Wow! Crank it.

That is legit, and a great guitar. SAS w/ a stop-tail? Very cool indeed. The old wide-fat neck carve and the splittable McCarty pickups are pretty awesome on those, and they're nothing like that anymore. Enjoy it.

Awesome find, congrats. I keep thinking my next guitar should be one of those--if I can find one--and would like to see PRS make them again.
