Vela Type D Harmonics Question

Listened to a youtube video from Andertons on the way to work the other day talking about the Type D Singlecoil harmonics being filtered (link to video below). It's fairly early in the video. He does a flip of the switch selector and the Starla pickups let the harmonics through to the amp. Interesting phenomenon. Anyone with a Vela experience this? Why would this happen?

I thought that was typical of the neck pickup on any 21/22 fret guitar because the neck pickup is where the 24th fret would be which is a node on the string for harmonics.
 
Yeah, the Vela is perhaps a little more sensitive because it is a single-coil pup (IIRC?), whereas a humbucker has at least one set of poles slightly away from the null-node. So the Vela acts a bit more like a classic tele or single-coil strat.
