Hello everyone,

I just got a PRS Custom 24 from 1987 and there is a kind of mystery with the sweet switch it has.
Unfortunately, the guitar was sold to me on behalf of the family of the original owner who passed away not long ago, so there is no chance to get the information otherwise than asking here.

I opened the cavity and the wiring looks to be original with the original 1513-135Y device and to my non-expert look it corresponds exactly to the wiring scheme posted here in another thread.

The only thing is that it is a 3-way switch, not a 2-way as one could expect.

Do you think it is original PRS?
And can one have an idea on what it does in the extra position?

Thank you.

I made some research on the web and it looks like the following:
the 2-way switch with 6 contacts would connect either '2-3 and 5-6' or '2-1 and 5-4'.
If I am not mistaken, first would correspond to the standard sound and second to the Sweet switch ON.

The 3-way switch would have the same connections at the end positions but an additional '2-3 and 5-4' in the middle...
