I was thinking of the thread posted by AZGiant about Santana not taking a photo when I saw this on Colbert last week. Paul McCartney talks about his emotional connection to fans, and how he separates out "him" (famous Paul) and "me" (Liverpool Paul"). I'm assuming he does it to keep his sanity. And although IMHO there is a big difference in their "fame level", perhaps this gives some insight into where Santana may be coming from. This whole clip is really kind of interesting.
