I swapped out my 85/15 for 58/15 lt on my 2021 CE custom 24. I love the humbucking position on the new pups but the coil split just seems like a little volume loss and not like the single coil sound I got from the 85/15s. And In very clean tones it sounds more like single coil but with overdrive the split sounds pretty much the same as humbucker but with slight volume loss. My question is. Is this normal. Where as I preferred the coil split tones on my 85/15 i now prefer the humbucker on the 58/15. Could it be the luthier did not wire them correctly or do my ears just have to adapt. ? Hmmm

If the coil split is a partial split, meaning one coil of the humbucker is fully on and the other coil is partially "on" rather than being fully "off", then the sound is fuller and stronger.

Sounds different than the old way of splitting a humbucker into a single coil by switching one coil "off".
