Mira - Pronunciation!

Hi,

This is one for you guys in the US. I am in the UK, I always thought that 'Mira' was pronounced as in 'mirror'. About a month back I went in to a local guitar shop and when I asked about a 'Mirror' I was abruptly told it is pronounced 'Myra'!
Yesterday I went in to another local guitar shop and asked about a 'Myra' and was told (politely) is is pronounced 'Mirror'!

So guys which is it? Mirror or Myra?

If I was going to change it to be snooty and make others feel less knowledgeable I would have gone with a long "a" at the end. Something like MEE-RAY.
