I restored my '95 Custom 22 today

The amber looks great on your guitar, really compliments the look.

I went back to black on mine, most of the tortoiseshell ones I've seem with the amber do have uncovered black bobbin pickups but also have gold hardware and most have more brown tint in the finish too. So the amber works. Mine looks different, basically a shade of red and chrome hardware and the amber knobs didn't necessarily look bad on mine but more like a bit out of place. So it's gone. Back to stock! And now I know the truth, black knobs. I'll never stray again.

I like this.

Both my guitars are from 1995.

I put the original gold knobs from the '95 Tobacco Sunburst CE22 on the '95 CU22.

The '95 gold knobs are not as dark as the new amber knobs but they're darker than the new gold knobs I had on the CU22.

I put the new amber knobs on the Tobacco Sunburst CE22 and I think they compliment the more somber finish of that guitar.

The Tobacco Sunburst is more brown and not nearly as red as a Cherry Sunburst.

It's going to stay this way for next few days...until the PRS Amber Lamp Shade knobs arrive.

Dunno where those will go now.
