Has anyone replaced the pickups in their S2 Studio? Also, does anyone know how to get ahold of a Type-D single coil? One of my Type D single coils appears bad, and it's very difficult to find these pickups.
I really love the way this guitar sounds, so wanted to just replace it....but I've...
Oh, I know. I know.
I wish I knew someone near me who had one of those. I'm not a good enough player yet to deserve to own that though.
In the mean time, what I don't truly know won't give me (too much) GAS. My ignorance at least leaves me in a fairly happy place.
My S2 Studio is insanely good.
It's so nice that I have these irrational wonderings that..... how could anything anyone else has be any better?
Granted, I've only also owned a PRS SECu24 and a Les Paul Studio. But that's my $. 02.
Same here, wrt tuning. Plus, the nut on my SE Cu 24 protruded a little too much. There's no question about this, IMO.
(keep it going with protruding nut jokes, please :))
Question about the middle position setting please : This setting works the bridge and neck pickup....
.......but do you consider this setting for the middle position superior to a possible wiring where the middle setting activated solely the middle single coil ?
Thanks !
Thanks for the replies - wanted to get back to those who helped but it took a while.
My problem was that when I added .010 strings, the tension was so much greater that it was pulling the floating bridge a LOT. I needed to adjust the screws for this from the back of the guitar....a LOT...
Thanks for the reply. All of this makes sense. Much of this is what I've recently learned by reading up in other places too.
You had asked : the action on the 12th fret is about 7.5/64ths and 7/64ths on the bass/treble strings. I still can't figure out how to get it lower. It's a...
No replies. I guess I'm screwed on this, LOL.
Makes very little sense to me; I've got the nut sanded down to where the action at the first fret feels good and is EXACTLY where the PRS specs say it should be......and the action at the 12th is now about exactly DOUBLE what their specs say it...
Replaced the nut on my SE Cu24 with tusq. That went well after a LOT (!!!) of sanding the nut down. Judging from the PRS specs they released (at bottom), I have the string heights at the correct height near the nut, but more than double that height near the 12th fret.
So I've done a lot of...
Awesome, that's pretty much what I'll do. Hopefully I get the measuring and sanding right. Thanks for the response.
I'll have an update in a day or two.
Andy, it looks like I might have to sand this thing down at least 1/8 of an inch, which is more than I'd expected. Does that seem reasonable to you - is it near what you had to do? Thanks!
I did not take measurements. I probably should have. :( I'm still learning.
I did get this from...
Generic question here, because I did take the time to try to read up on what's been posted.
I just replaced nut on SE Cu24 with Tusq PT-6643-00.
Everything went well, except the action is much higher. WAY much higher. So I guess I'll remove the Tusq and sand it down, after measuring...
