I've owned an ES 335 and currently own an SSH. Completely different animals, in my view!
To me, the ES 335 sounds like a rounder, hollower Les Paul in the rhythm position, and gets pretty close to Les Paul territory in the bridge position.
The SSH's two humbucking positions don't sound as...
I changed my set to D'Addario 9-46s. It has the same string tension as 10s in the wound strings, but a lighter gauge on the unwounds. I prefer this to standard 10s, as the unwound strings sound spankier! No neck adjustment needed for me, just some tweaks on the saddles.
I’ve recently acquired a midnight rose SS.
Where have you been all my life?? I’ve never had a strat style guitar that sustained or resonated like this SS, or which sounded so even all the way up and down the neck. The bass strings ring out like a piano!
My minor gripe is that I wish the...
I didn’t hear much of a difference lowering the narrowfield. But i do set my humbuckers pretty low. My neck pickup is flush with the humbucker rings, while the bridge pickup is just above.
Very nice ! What do you think of the pickups? I have an SSH too, fabulous workmanship. I’m still tweaking pickup heights as the humbucking modes seem a bit hot to me. But the split tones are beautiful.
Thanks everyone! I’m glad the SSH is now part of the core line, its such a fun guitar with so many options.
The color is a mystery but it does look quite like honey. And yes, there isn’t a modcat code on the case, they don’t seem to have those for wood library runs.
Ok so i have questions!
I was told by the seller that the finish is satin copperhead, and that it has an ebony fretboard.
I’m not sure if this is right though. Copperhead looks a lot darker to me, while this SSH looks almost like a sandy, tinted natural finish. My seller’s specs were from...
Hi everyone ! New member here. I just bought a 2020 wood library special semi hollow (limited edition I suppose?). This was second hand, and not through a dealer so I don’t have too much information about it.
This is my first PRS after a lifetime of only playing Les Pauls, 335s and strats...
I’m curious about why the neck pickups were flipped in the limited edition run. I read somewhere in the forum that it was to emphasise the voicing in the 2 and 4 positions.
I’ve also read elsewhere ( in the Les Paul world) that flipping neck pickups don’t have any significant effect on how...

Thanks! I’d like to say though. I’ve been lurking in the forum for the past couple of days and it’s such a great source of information. Great vibes too. Looking forward to participating more !
