I didn't like the thin sound from the (I assume) stock Silver Sky Mayer played on last year's D&C tour. But the Silver Sky on this year's 2023 tour was much closer to providing a Jerry tone. The modifications really made a difference. I wonder if the pickups are stock SS? And he seemed to play...
Agree. Most of the videos I saw for 2021 he was playing the Silver Sky. I noticed right away a difference - thinner, less low-end pop, often lost in the mix. The SS is a great guitar but I don't think it is the best for Dead and Company. I also wonder if, with Mayer wearing headphones, it...
I agree. The Silver Sky, especially in the bridge and middle position, sounds ok but the 594 and Super Eagles seem to have a little thicker, more robust tone that favors a lot of Dead songs.
I found something similar. I have a MEV and a SSH Ltd. As much as I love the SSH, every time I pick up the MEV I notice the TCI pickups are clearer and a little louder than the 58/15MTs. My only complaint with the MEV pickups is they get a little noisy if I get too close to my recording...
I have a SSH with the MTs and love it. I was thinking of also getting the new SSH with LTs. How would you say the LTs are different than the MTs on a SSH? Thanks

Yes, great guitar. I have one just like it - same color. Love all the pickup combinations, and the pattern neck. Let us know how 11s work if you try it.
I agree. I think the new PRS, with the pickup selector up top, that Mayer has been using on the current tour sounds better than Wolf did tonight. Maybe Mayer didn't have time to dial it in enough. So what is Mayer's new PRS???
