Breaking silence: Some S2 models...Too much pick guard!

I love my vela. Imho, it's a really nice, fun guitar that has a unique look and sound. I payed the going rate, and feel that I got good value for the price I payed. Sometimes I wonder if folks won't be happy unless they get a private stock top and appointments for $300.

Depending on price, I'd be in for 2 or 3.

Why I don't like to get rid of guitars (part deux)

To me, there are keepers and sleepers. I traded a nice Gretsch and a nice g&l for my dgt recently. No regrets.

NGD: FBJ DGT w/ IRW neck, Brazzy FB & a question to pros

Damn, and here I was thinking I had come up with something original :D Seriously though, that's why the DGT works so well for me. I like the brightness, as more than half of what I do is clean. IMHO, I'd prefer to have bright, because I can always roll the treble off, but I can't add it in if...

NGD: FBJ DGT w/ IRW neck, Brazzy FB & a question to pros

You probably already figured this out, but my dgt is a bright guitar. Bright and dirt don't always mix well. When i put dirt on mine, i almost always roll the tone knob back, quite a bit actually. Sounds much better to my ears like that

Exactly. When I play clean with the band, I set the amp for just starting to breakup, then roll the gtr vol down. I then bring it up for solos. For the house, I love the two pots, but in the heat of battle, I don't want to have to think about it.

Yea, the jumbo frets usually aren't my thing either. I think they work on this guitar because of the level of finishing they get. My guess is that in order to be as good as they make them, the board has to be really flat to begin with, then they work them down further than most other...

Nice! I just posted a NGD thread for my DGT. I am still learning it's nuances, and tweaking it a little here and there, but it is quickly becoming my #1. The pickups are absolutely killer!

OK, gotcha. So you compensate with your playing. I switch to other guitars during our sets, so I might investigate some heavier springs or something to stiffen the trem a little. Maybe I'm ultra sensitive to it, I've spent a lot of time practicing getting my bends in pitch. I'll keep playing...

New Vela owner, looking to add a core guitar

Yea, I noticed that. The case for my DGT weighs as much as a small amp! I was thinking the next purchase for me will probably be one of those really nice mono gig bags. The DGT is a killer guitar. I still want a BM, but I'm quite content to spend a little time getting to know the DGT better, so...

    NGD - DGT!

Thanks LS, appreciate that. Being so new to the breed, it's hard to tell if I'm just not used to it, or if it's out of spec. I have a buddy here in town who has a few PRSi, and we are going to try to play some one evening this week, so I'll get his input before I go running my mouth to the...

I wouldn't kick either of those out of my bed. Congrats man, those look amazing!

Oh, and one more question. I'm loving having a trem, and think it is ultra useable for what I do, but I do have a problem. When I do a steel bend, it's pulling the unbent strings flat. I guess this means I need to block the trem, or does PRS have some sort of way of dealing with this?

    NGD - DGT!

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. Did a little truss rod tweak today to compensate for going to 10's. Plays like butter now! Sorry, I don't know the name for the color. I think it may be the black gold burst, but I'm not really sure. It certainly looks classier than any guitar I've ever had before...

    NGD - DGT!

Yea, I might have to. A few times at rehersal yesterday, I went from bridge to middle, and had an unexpected jump in volume. I'd prefer that didnt happen on a gig.
