NGD, aimed high for my first.

Yep, black bobbin pickups, to me, look best with matching black rings, unless the finish is light and transparent.

NGD, aimed high for my first.

Just realized why the Pattern Regular neck is fitting me so well - my wrist is bending less. With the regular 1 11/16" necks on the rest of my guitars, I have to sling higher or play seated. It'll have to wait until after the next gear purge, which I'm already planning. Since one of the...

    Impending NGD-S2 Standard 24!

From the way the light is hitting it, it almost looks like a metallic finish. Nice!

Bird material on s2 custom models?

I'm not a fan of the white inlay material on the S2 maple-top models, and really wish the CEs went back to pearl inlays. They do look better with the dots on the S2 all-mahogany models, and make sense with the Silver Sky because of its Strat heritage.

I traded away an SG a while ago (for its bass version), but if I ever wanted to replace it, I'd look at an S2 Standard 24 or used Core Mira before considering another SG. I'd also jump if a baritone joined the S2 lineup. But my next gear purchase will most likely be a Mini Rectifier head.

Made it out to Chuck Levin's yesterday. I tried the S2 Cu24 in pink crackle and it was a more than capable instrument. Easily on par with the Gibson Les Paul that was my previous number one. I liked the way the finish was textured. Then I asked about the 30th Anniversary Core Cu24 still sitting...

Last chance - talk me "up" from the S2 Custom.

The thing is that the neon pink of the crackle finish is an older dream still. Ten years ago, I tried to refinish a cheap Squier with neon spray paint and failed badly, debris kept getting in my finish. Very true. Especially if they make an S2 baritone. Edit to add: I'm really starting to get...

Last chance - talk me "up" from the S2 Custom.

Not recently. The last time I tried a PRS was the S2 Standard Satin I used to test the Marshall Studio Vintage, right when Marshall introduced the series at the start of the year, before bringing said amp home. The S2s I played around five years ago felt like they were missing something, the...

Last chance - talk me "up" from the S2 Custom.

I actually was going to let go of my Rhoads, until I dropped it to B standard. The finish is the one thing that got me to reconsider skipping the S2 - in fact, putting it as my number two pick. My "Eighties hair metal finish" dream predates my PRS dream. The NOS 10-top at Chuck's that is...

Last chance - talk me "up" from the S2 Custom.

Previously, I was considering selling my Strat among other instruments, and getting an S2 Studio, or S2 Standard to install a middle single into, to do both jobs. But setting up the Strat, I could not bring myself to let go of it. Meanwhile, I started selling clutter unrelated to music and...

Anyone add a middle single to an S2 Standard 24?

I just have to hope the S2 Studio is still at Chuck's - and speaks to me - once I have the cash ready. Getting an S2 Standard and having it modded is a backup plan.

Anyone add a middle single to an S2 Standard 24?

An S2 Custom? I'd still consider installing a middle pickup if that's what I end up with. I'd just need to have the local guy make an oval plate like a Music Man to replace the pickup rings and use the old screw holes. It's not like I would be hacking out ten-top maple.

Anyone add a middle single to an S2 Standard 24?

Thanks! I'm leaning towards PRS over a superstrat (Ibanez/Jackson/Charvel/ESP) to replace my Strat, due to the scale length. I also see Chuck's has an S2 Studio in stock, which has the middle single like I want out of the box, but that's 22 frets (I'd prefer 24 with my first PRS), and the one...

    What Would You Do?

With that finish I'd lean towards keeping the ivory colored rings. If it was darker or a green/blue/violet, I would have gone with black plastics.

Anyone add a middle single to an S2 Standard 24?

Long time no see. About five years ago, I signed up here, really leaning towards a PRS for my next purchase. Then I ended up shifting to bass and getting a Rick 4001. Now I'm in the middle of selling off gear to afford one last splurge, and PRS is my first choice. Among the gear leaving will...
