Played my 40 year old Norman at the cidery today. Four young girls seemed very interested, so I asked them if they wanted to try. They took turns strumming away while I switched through chords. Great fun.

After returning from Thailand, I found I am all over the place with my play choices. Life is ALWAYS better with a guitar!

I'm exclusively using my SE HBII right now. My band from the 90s is doing a couple of "reunion" shows at this little bar/grille where the singer hangs out. They don't do live music so it'll be minimum gear while we stand in the corner - the type of gig I haven't done since my early 20s, lol. We're doing 2 hour sets - our original tunes plus 12 covers to keep the crowd interested.
Anyway, we have a lot if acoustic and tunes with acoustic sections, so I'm training myself to get used to that guitar.
I hunted down some new acoustic IRs and am using a sweet patch that has a Martin D35 and a Taylor 816 blended. I'm VERY pleased.
For the electric path I'm still searching for the "right" amp. In the 1990s I played Rivera amps and cabs. Those M/S series Riveras have never been modelled for Helix. Plus, the big request from the owner of the "venue" is that we don't play "heavy". Well, we were heavy, lol, so I need a decent amp that gives me what I need without going to aggressive.....
So, no Engl, Diezel, Revv, etc - you know, the " easy" amps. Been working with the mid- gain stuff in the Helix and playing with "pedals". I'm leaning toward using a Marshall Tremolo 50 w/ an EVM12L loaded Marshall Basketweave IR pair (close mic & room mic) and a Rangemaster Treblebooster for the little extra kick. Only other effect will be a wah pedal for the Michael Schenker cocked wah thing during leads.
But we'll see....

I played my Nebula and Lunar Ice today, excellent tones. Loved all 5 pickup positions.
Went to a Peter Frampton concert Friday night, band played for 2 1/2 hours non-stop. Peter is an amazing guitarist. Peter played exclusively Gibsons as did the backup guitarist. The last 2 songs the backup guitarist pulled out a McCarty 594 and it stood out sonically. I was a happy guy seeing/hearing the PRS in the mix.

This would be my PS dream anyway .. I've had her 9 years . a carved top and back "Santana HB II" Jaros Gatlinburg built by Tony Nagy while he was at Gruhn's . The book match is excellent , the mahogany neck is a deep tennon going in to the bridge , Custom low wind Fralins with tap and blend

Went on a Les Paul tone quest. Started with my McCarty 594 SE, then Epiphone 59 Les Paul Reissue, and finished with a Hamer USA Studio Triple P90 Goldtop. All great variations on the Les Paul sound.

The Santana III for me the last few weeks. It came to me with 20 years’ neglected set up. I’ve been learning by doing. It’s nearly perfect now.

This is still one of my all time favorite guitars. FYI, my hands work really well with Pattern Regular if you need a place to store this. ;-)Broke this one out for a little bit. Pattern Regular neck carve is proving to be more difficult compared to my Pattern / Pattern Vintage neck carves as I age…but the tone is epic (Pernie neck)!
