Top 5 Albums - House is on Fire

Some good picks here!

I couldn't possibly choose just 5 on musical merit, so I'll pick 5 that have personal meaning (but also happen to be very good) -

The Darkness "Permission to Land"
The Killers "Hot Fuss"
Anberlin "Dark is the Way, Light is a Place"
Alter Bridge "ABIII"
Amos Lee "Supply and Demand"

I find this question rather distasteful. You want me to imagine what albums I'd save in a situation that is, quite frankly, something most of us fear more than just about anything.

Why not ask something reasonable, like what family member I'd save? Or would I push a family member back if it meant a sixth album?

Five albums? I'm not coming out of the house for that! Besides, given that some of my albums are scattered across the house, if I have time to find five, I probably have time to grab a few more during the search.

Everything is in the cloud these days, but a fun thought experiment nonetheless.

Allman Brothers Band At Fillmore East
Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsys
John Mayall's Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton
Derek & the Dominos - Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs
Steve Vai - Passion & Warfare

I would really have great difficulty only taking 5. Perhaps I could grab the thumb drive in my car with thousands of albums in 320kb MP3 files?...
Here's todays choices on a whim:

Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
Pink Floyd - Animals
Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway
Steely Dan - Pretzel Logic
XTC - Skylarking

Mr. Big- Lean into It.
Train- Drops of Jupiter
Beatles- Take your pick (White Album, Rubber Soul, etc, etc)
Extreme- Pornograffitti
Led Zeppelin- Physical Graffiti. (Guess I like graffiti albums.)

And the other 800 I could list.

It caused me a little pain to leave Pornograffitti off my list! I literally wore that cassette tape out.

I was all about to start a bit where I called you a racist virgin but I got distracted by the John Mayer thread fight that's breaking out. :p

Well, it does seem to be the popular thing to do. I'll ask my black neighbor if I am when he and his wife are out to dinner with us tonight. He won't know about the virgin part though, but my wife might so I think I can get an opinion on the entire subject.

I wouldn’t grab any CDs, albums, whatever. I have digital copies of everything I ever bought, but some other special ones come to mind:

Luck of the Draw, Bonnie Raitt
American Woman, Guess Who, probably the first album I bought
Friday Night in San Francisco
Legend, Bob Marley
Be Here, Keith Urban
