Where is that speedo pic
I bought a jcm800 studio head last year and was fairly happy with it but last week I put a 7025 preamp tube in V1 position and that tamed down the high end a bunch and has improved that amps performance a bunch.
All the cabs I have sound better than they did before and I'm super excited to record with it.
I had been working on my take of All Right Now by Free because I absolutely LOVE the rawness and rebelliousness of that song. I started it two years ago and have a few track recorded.
My problem has been with lead tones. I have not been able to capture the tone I want for the lead work and that is why that project came to a halt.
I'm kind of thinking I may have solved it with this preamp tube swap.
The 2nd thing is I have a pair of alnico golds and I just scored another pair of golds for a pretty good price. I'm going to load up one of my 1960a cabs with four of them and see what happens.
I'm really excited to get back on this project and I hope it turns out well.
