I have one incoming that has a really cool backstory which i will outline in my soon to be NBD post, but for now wondered if anyone else has one? I love a good bass and have not had one in many years, so psyched to get it so lets hear your experiences with one.

Let's hear more about the bass! I haven't ever played a Grainger bass. I'd love to.

Participating in the thread 'cause I love bass, and wish I could settle down with a PRS bass... Only seen Grainger's basses, never played one.

I played prototype 1 or 2, I forget which one.
It was at a September Meet & Greet with Paul at my dealer back in 2013.
I enjoyed playing it, and it was what fueled me to buy my SE Kingfisher bass.

Congrats on getting one.
Any ideas for an amp?

I already have a tiny Ampeg combo which I picked up on a Musicians Friend stupid deal of the day to go with the cheap Peavey bass i grabbed some time ago. It is not loud but sounds good so it will suffice for the house for now. I will be scouring Craigslist for a suitable midsize amp to move some air with.

The bass is on its way to me now from Alabama, thanks to another of the seemingly endless trades I do. It was originally owned by Wyzard, the bass player for Mothers Finest. If you were at The Experience a few years ago you got to see them kill it. The story is this is the bass he used to record their new album that is due out this year, it is signed on the back of the headstock and has a letter in the case saying it was his. I am pumped to get it for the deal i did. Check this link to see him playing it in the studio. It is a 2013 model and sure looks like the one he played at the 2013 Experience from the videos on you tube, wish i had a clear picture to show it better.

Congrats! That is badass!

i was really looking into the 4 string GG, for my son, mainly. Ok he was just my excuse. Maybe after my next guitar.

Our bass player has a four string GG and a five string GG. They are amazing. You are gonna love it.

Well the bass came in and is absolutley stunning. Playability is off the charts, the neck carve is neither P bass big or J bass small kind of like a 'just right' in the middle. Tons of tonal variations to be had with the active/passive choices on both pickups as well as the three tone knobs that really have a wide sweep. Bright and poppin all the way to muted and thumping it can do it all.

And I have to say it has a huge output, I had only played my little Ampeg combo with my cheap Peavey bass and thought it was somewhat underwhelming volume wise; well this thing makes it roar in comparison.

So anyways I am a lousy reviewer but can say it is an amazing instrument. I have not touched my guitars all weekend and have played this for hours, that has to be some testament to how good it is.

One of the loveliest Private Stock instruments I've ever seen was a Grainger bass with a burl top... the bass itself probably isn't for me (I'm not a bassist really though mind you) but damn if it wasn't stunningly crazy beautiful. Cannot find a pic of it anymore anywhere on the internet, which is a shame, you guys'd love it.
