Ever Feel 'Competent' At Music?

I’ve worked incredibly hard to become the decidedly mediocre musician I am today. I’m no longer worried about me vs other guitar players. I no longer worry if what I write is going to be heard, I have a file cabinet full of sheet music that can be used to wrap fish in after I die. I do worry about whether or not I give something to the listener when I play or they hear anything I’ve written. That is everything to me. They can hate it or love it, as long as they feel it. That’s why I can keep going. And some day I might rise to the level of mediocre……
